 What a nice portrait. I would normally recomend getting down on the ground when shooting portraits of kids... keeping the camera at the same level as the eyes. But this worked out great. Nice expression and angle. I guess this is the photo that prooves the rule then

 Yeah I've taken some pictures on the level of his eyes but he wouldn't stay still you know he is two so the only way I could get his attention on that moment was standing higher than he was and talking about icecream  More pics are coming though.  -- [link]  Getting a 2 year old to stand still is about as easy as stopping a moving truck with your teeth...

Critiques
Very clear shot, with depth and interest. You took a great picture, while it is not the first time this kind of shot has been presented, it is stunning. Perfect clarity on the subject, with the background being somewhat blurry it keeps the subject perfectly crisp and vivid.
He must be a fun subject because he is certainly a cutie.
Now about the framing. What you've got within the photo is framed nicely (rule of thirds and all that) and there is nothing distracting but I feel you could have perhaps cropped in just a little tighter to bring out those eyes even further. Lose some of the background and the shirt but keep all of the hair and i think it would be a distinctly better shot.
